Show What You Know

We are coming to the end of our Puzzle Packing (Whole Number Unit).  Students will be working on a Performance Task question in class on Tuesday.  We will be doing a few days of review to consolidate our understanding.

We will be having a Show What You Know (end of the unit assessment) either Friday October 18th or Tuesday October 22nd.

Below is a copy of the Success Criteria we co-created in class today.

Number Sense - Exploring Whole Numbers
What You Need to Know

Overall Expectation:
  • read, represent, compare, and order whole numbers to 100 000
Specific Expectations:
  • represent, compare, and order whole numbers to 100 000, using a variety of tools
  • demonstrate an understanding of place value in whole numbers  to 100 000, using a variety of tools and strategies
  • read and print in words whole numbers to ten thousand
  • solve problems that arise from real-life situations and that relate to the magnitude of whole numbers up to 100 000
  • solve problems involving the addition, subtraction, and multiplication of whole numbers,
Process Expectations:
  • Communicating - communicate mathematical understanding with others
  • Representing - represent mathematical thinking in different ways

Sept. 30, 2019

Thank you to all those that were able to make it to Meet the Teacher Night last week.  It was a pleasure to meet each of you.

I look forward to talking to each of you more about your child and their progress at Progress Report Interviews in November.

I hope that we can use this blog to give you a glimpse into what and how your child is learning math this year!  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning with your child!
